You’ll visit Vail and Aspen, surrounded by glorious, colorful mountains, and learn the history of their transformation from old mining towns into world class ski and summer resorts that have become home to America’s Rich and Famous. Day 3: Vail, Colorado

In the morning we enjoy a mild, interesting nature walk through the lovely countryside with a Vail Naturalist. In the afteroon we drive to Silver Plume to take a scenic ride on the Georgetown Historic Railroad. This narrow gauge railroad was built to connect the mining towns of Silver Plume and Georgetown in the late 1800’s and was considered an engineering marvel. Great panoramic views abound as we ride across the massive Devil’s Gate High Bridge and through this gorgeous part of the Rockies. You have the opportunity to dine, on your own, in one of Vail’s many outstanding restaurants tonight.
