San Francisco, one of America’s most attractive and exciting cities, boasts picture postcard views, sophistication, culture and great food. You are sure to enjoy a delightful wine tasting experience in the lovely Napa Valley. The gorgeous Pacific coast is on full display during our visit to Carmel-by-the-Sea and Monterey and our ride through the giant Redwood Forest will leave you speechless.

1st Day: San Francisco

Welcome to the “City by the Bay” – San Francisco. Our escort meets and transfers us to our hotel in the heart of the city, where we have accommodations for the next 4 evenings. We are treated to a delicious welcome dinner tonight.

2nd Day: San Francisco

Today we learn why so many people have left their hearts in San Francisco with a full day tour of this fabulous city. We see the Golden Gate Bridge, Mission Dolores, the Palace of Fine Arts, Nob Hill, Fisherman’s Wharf, Lombard Street – the “crookedest street in the world,” the magnificent views afforded from Telegraph Hill and, of course, the famed cable cars.

3rd Day: San Francisco

We board our boat in Fisherman’s Wharf and sail into San Francisco Bay for a scenic and relaxing cruise. We’ll see so much of San Francisco from the water – Alcatraz, Fort Mason, Angel Island and the Marina District – as we sail right up to the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. After returning to shore we drive across the Golden Gate Bridge and visit the charming community of Sausalito. Named for its little willow trees, this picturesque town at the southern tip of Marin County affords its visitors with spectacular waterfront views of San Francisco, interesting shops, art galleries and great restaurants.

4th Day: San Francisco

We drive north into the Napa Valley – the heart of California’s Wine Country. The scenic drive north from the town of Napa, with its turn-of-the-century buildings and homes takes us past dozens of wineries. We will visit one of the more renowned wineries for a tour and delightful wine tasting session. Free time to enjoy the charming town of St. Helena, home of the Culinary Institute of America, precedes a visit to another of Napa’s great wineries for a tasting. A fine dinner is just one more highlight of this truly delightful day.

5th Day: Monterey

After checking out of our hotel, we drive south to the coastal town of Carmel and enjoy one of America’s most celebrated drives – the incredible 17 Mile Drive. The ride features a multitude of panoramic views of the gorgeous California coastline as well as Pebble Beach, Seal Rock, Cypress Point and the “Lone Cypress.” Time to enjoy the bustling artist’s colony of Carmel-by-the-Sea, with its shops, cafes, galleries, bookstores and boutiques before taking the short drive to the fishing village of Monterey, where we have accommodations. Dinner in one of Monterey’s better restaurants is included tonight.

6th Day: San Mateo

We’ll see Monterey’s Cannery Row – the colorful locale of John Steinbeck’s classics Cannery Row and Sweet Thursday, the Presidio, Custom House and Fisherman’s Wharf. Then it’s on to Felton, California where we board the delightful Roaring Camp Railroad – the 19th century narrow gauge steam locomotive, for a thrilling ride through the forest of giant Redwood trees. We’ll enjoy the scenic narrated ride to the top of Bear Mountain and learn about the history of these giant trees and Roaring Camp, the logging camp that served to haul these giant trees down from the mountains. In the afternnon we drive north to the San Francisco area and check into our hotel. A delicious farewell dinner is prepared for us tonight.

7th Day:Fly Home

Following breakfast we take the short drive to San Francisco Airport for our return flight home.
