We see Cape Cod’s weathered shingled cottages, seagrass-sprayed dunes, historic towns like Provincetown – site of the Pilgrims first landing, Hyannis, Truro and Yarmouth. We’ll also set sail on a relaxing cruise to the idyllic island of Martha’s Vineyard, take a tour of Boston and the popular vacation retreat of America’s wealthy – Newport, Rhode Island.

1st Day: Cape Cod

We arrive in Boston and, upon meeting our tour director, transfer to our hotel in Cape Cod where we have accommodations for the next 3 evenings. We are treated to a Welcome Dinner this evening.

2nd Day: Cape Cod

We take a complete tour of Cape Cod, beginning at its easternmost point, Provincetown. We’ll see the sight of the Pilgrim’s first landing and enjoy the quaint shops and houses in the town. We will enjoy images of Cape Cod’s weathered shingled cottages, seagrass – sprayed dunes, historic architecture and old New England Inns as we travel along Olde King’s Highway. Also included are visits to Hyannis, Truro and Yarmouth as well as the National Seashore Park, with its lighthouses (including the famous Highland Light) and beaches. A delicious lobsterfest is planned for us this evening.

3rd Day: Cape Cod

We drive to Woods Hole where we board a ferry for the cruise to Martha’s Vineyard. We take a delightful tour of this island which was made famous by the Kennedy “clan” in the Sixties. We see the Gingerbread Houses, Island Tabernacle and Antique Carousel of Oak Bluffs and learn about the history of some of the island’s well known residents. The terrain is uniquely stark and the towns we see are small, quaint and quite interesting, emoting visions of an era long gone. Time is provided to explore the town of Edgartown with its many shops, eateries, attractions and extraordinary views of the Atlantic Ocean. Late afternoon has us cruising back to the mainland.

4th Day: Boston

We leave Cape Cod and drive to Newport, Rhode Island to explore the city’s historic riches and gain an understanding of why it has become such a popular vacation retreat. We’ll see the Newport Waterfront, Fort Adams State Park, Newport Colony House, Trinity Church – the nation’s first church steeple, Newport’s numerous yachts, sailing ships and opulent homes. We’ll take the scenic 11 mile Ocean Drive, which affords us magnificent panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, Newport Harbor, the Jamestown Bridge and Newport’s many spectacular mansions. Always a treat is a tour of one of the fabulous Gilded Age mansions where you will capture a glimpse of the incredible lifestyle led by America’s “Rich & Famous” in the early 20th century. An early dinner precedes our drive to Boston where we check into our hotel for the next 2 evenings.

5th Day: Boston

We’ll tour historic Boston as we travel the “Freedom Trail” to see, among other things, Faneuil Hall, the Old North Church – immortalized by Longfellow’s “Midnight Ride of Paul Revere,” the U.S.S. Constitution, Boston Common, the site of the Boston Massacre, Beacon Hill, the Old State House, the Old Corner Bookstore and the Bunker Hill Monument. We will be provided with time to enjoy the sites and sounds of the famous Quincy Market. Also included is a visit to Concord and Lexington where the first shots of the American Revolution were fired in 1775. A tasty Farewell Dinner tops off an absolutely delightful day.

6th Day: Fly Home

After checking out of our hotel, we’ll drive to Salem, where the infamous “Witch Trials” of the 1690s took place. You’ll see the site of the Witch Trials, the Custom House and Nathaniel Hawthorne’s “House of the Seven Gables” before returning to Logan Airport for our flight home.
